What is PandaSpeak?
PandaSpeak is an online Chinese language learning platform that provides vocabulary, sentence patterns, common Chinese expressions, pronunciation exercises, learning materials, and private tutoring services to help adults improve their Chinese communication skills.
Who can use PandaSpeak?
PandaSpeak is an online Chinese learning platform designed primarily for adults, with a focus on practical speaking and listening skills for everyday life. Anyone who has not reached the legal age of adulthood in their place of residence must have permission from a parent or legal guardian and use PandaSpeak under their supervision, subject to applicable age restrictions and legal requirements.
Are PandaSpeak's learning materials suitable for minors?
PandaSpeak uses authentic vocabulary, expressions, information, and examples drawn from real-world situations. Its learning materials are intended primarily for adult learners and are not specifically curated or age-rated for children. Some topics or language may not be suitable for younger users.
Parents and legal guardians are responsible for reviewing the materials, determining their suitability, and supervising a minor's use of the platform. PandaSpeak cannot guarantee that particular learning content will be excluded from or restricted for specific groups of users. Teachers, however, may choose which students they teach and control the content they create and share with their students.
Do I need prior Chinese knowledge?
No. PandaSpeak is suitable for beginners as well as those with some prior knowledge of Chinese.
Can I access learning materials without a subscription?
Some content may be available for free, but premium learning materials and tutoring services require an active subscription or payment.
Can I learn at my own pace?
Yes. Students can access learning materials at any time and progress according to their own learning goals.
What does a subscription include?
A subscription may include access to:
- Vocabulary lessons
- Sentence patterns
- Chinese expressions
- Pronunciation practice
Features may change as the platform develops.
How much does a PandaSpeak subscription cost?
PandaSpeak's current subscription price is $15 per year, which averages $1.25 per month. The subscription price helps cover access to the learning platform, its operation, development and maintenance, and payment-processing costs charged by Stripe or PayPal. Payment-processing costs vary by payment method and transaction and are not a fixed portion of the subscription price. PandaSpeak does not add a separate processing fee at checkout unless it is clearly disclosed before payment.
Why does Stripe show Orange Jump Jump when I pay?
Orange Jump Jump is the owner of PandaSpeak and is the business associated with PandaSpeak's Stripe payment account. You may see Orange Jump Jump during checkout or on payment-related records.
Can PandaSpeak change its fees?
Yes. PandaSpeak reserves the right to adjust its platform fees, service charges, or subscription pricing from time to time based on platform usage, operating costs, payment-processing costs, and the continued development and maintenance of PandaSpeak. Any applicable fees will be disclosed before a user completes a purchase or paid transaction. When appropriate, PandaSpeak will provide advance notice of material changes to existing subscription or tutoring-related fees. Our goal is to keep PandaSpeak affordable for adult Chinese learners while maintaining a reliable, high-quality learning and tutoring platform.
How do I cancel my subscription?
You can cancel your subscription at any time from the Subscription Management page in your PandaSpeak account.
Will I receive a refund if I cancel my subscription?
No. Subscription fees are non-refundable. Cancelling your subscription stops future recurring charges, and you can continue using your subscription until the end of your current paid period.
What happens if my payment fails?
Access to premium learning content may be suspended until payment is successfully processed.
Will PandaSpeak email me about news and platform updates?
Only if you choose to receive them. You can opt in during registration or turn news emails on or off at any time through Email Preferences after signing in. Existing accounts start opted out. PandaSpeak managers may occasionally send opted-in users news about new features, learning resources, and platform updates. Each announcement includes an unsubscribe link. Your choice does not affect essential account, security, payment, or tutoring-session notifications.
What should I do if audio or learning material is incorrect?
Students and teachers should contact PandaSpeak Support if audio is missing, unclear, incorrect, or does not match the displayed material. Please also report any vocabulary, sentence, expression, translation, Pinyin, BoPoMoFo, example, or other learning content that appears incorrect or mismatched. Include the name or page of the material and a brief description of the issue. PandaSpeak will review the report and correct or update the site when appropriate.
Do you offer one-on-one tutoring?
Yes. PandaSpeak offers personalized one-on-one tutoring sessions with teachers on the PandaSpeak platform. Sessions can be scheduled based on teacher availability.
How are tutoring sessions conducted?
Tutoring sessions take place directly on the PandaSpeak platform using PandaSpeak's integrated online classroom. Students and teachers can enter their scheduled classroom from their PandaSpeak account, so there is no need to arrange a separate Google Meet, Zoom, or other external meeting link.
How do I join my tutoring session?
Sign in to your PandaSpeak account and open your scheduled tutoring session. The classroom becomes available shortly before the scheduled start time. PandaSpeak also sends session reminders before the lesson to help students and teachers arrive on time.
Do I need to install video meeting software for tutoring?
No. The tutoring classroom is integrated into PandaSpeak and works through your supported web browser. You do not need to install a separate video meeting application to attend a PandaSpeak tutoring session.
Who is responsible for the internet connection during a tutoring session?
Students and teachers are each responsible for having a stable internet connection, a suitable device, and working audio and video equipment for their tutoring session. We recommend checking your connection and equipment before the scheduled session begins.
What should I do if a tutoring session is interrupted by a power outage or other extreme circumstance?
If a power outage, internet outage, severe weather, emergency, or other unexpected circumstance prevents a tutoring session from continuing, please report the interruption to PandaSpeak Support immediately when possible and no later than five days after the scheduled end of the session. Provide the session information and a brief description of what happened so PandaSpeak can review the circumstances and determine the appropriate next steps for the session and payment. Reports received after the five-day review period may arrive after the teacher payment has already been released.
What fees does PandaSpeak charge for tutoring sessions?
PandaSpeak currently deducts a 20% platform service fee from each completed tutoring session, so the teacher's estimated earnings are 80% of the session price. Stripe or PayPal payment-processing or payout fees may also apply where applicable. Those fees are set by the payment processor and may vary based on the payment method, transaction type, currency, country, payout method, and other factors. The applicable session price and earnings information will be disclosed before the paid transaction is completed.
How do teachers get paid for tutoring sessions?
Teachers must connect their Stripe account to PandaSpeak before receiving tutoring payouts. After a tutoring session is completed, the payment enters a five-day review period beginning at the scheduled end of the session. If the student does not report a dispute or incident during that period, PandaSpeak releases the teacher's payout through Stripe. Stripe then transfers the funds according to the payout schedule and banking settings associated with the teacher's connected Stripe account.
Why is there a review period before a teacher is paid?
The review period gives the student time to report a problem with a completed tutoring session. If no dispute or incident is submitted during the five-day review period, calculated from the scheduled end of the session, the session payment becomes eligible for release to the teacher through Stripe.
Can I reschedule a tutoring session?
Yes. A student or teacher may request to reschedule a tutoring session when the request is made more than 24 hours before the scheduled start time. The requested new time must be available and the other party must accept the request before the booking is changed. While a reschedule request is pending, the original booking remains scheduled.
If the other party accepts the request, the existing booking is moved to the agreed new time and the student is not charged again for the same session. If the request is declined, the original booking remains in place. The person whose reschedule request was declined may request another available time if the session is still more than 24 hours away, or may choose to cancel the booking. If cancellation is selected following a declined reschedule request, PandaSpeak will process the cancellation and any applicable refund according to the booking and payment status.
What happens if I miss a tutoring session?
If you miss a tutoring session without prior notice, it may be considered a no-show and the session may not be refundable.
What devices are supported?
PandaSpeak works on most modern computers, tablets, and smartphones with an internet connection.
Do I need to install software?
No. PandaSpeak is a web-based platform, so you can access its learning features and integrated tutoring classroom through a supported web browser without installing additional software.
